‘All focused intensity and chaotic curls, long pauses and fast-talking, the composer, artist and poet noah max is a fizzing creative fuse’

Alexandra Coghlan, The Sunday Times

Noah Max creates from scratch. He is the writer of over 60 works of opera, orchestral and chamber music which have been performed at London’s Wigmore Hall, New York’s Carnegie Hall and Vienna’s Musikverein. His opera A Child In Striped Pyjamas was lauded by critics as 'a Holocaust drama that's emotionally ambitious and vocally eloquent' (The Telegraph); he was awarded the Clements Prize in 2021 and his second album was released in 2025. His work is published by Birdsong and United Music Publishing; a selection of works are also self-published.

Max is also a writer of poems and prose, a maker of films and animation, and a visual artist whose work has displayed at the National Portrait Gallery. A selection of his works on paper are represented by the McNeill Contemporary Gallery.

Taken together, his ever-growing corpus explores humanity’s elusive relationship to Time among other insoluble mysteries.
